Notes from The Big M...

March 8, 2007

The Meadowlands is moving to a 4-day a week live racing schedule beginning the week of Monday, March 19. There will be no live racing on Wednesdays, March 21 through May 9. Post time Thursday through Saturday 7:30 pm; Sundays 1:10 pm.

Brian Sears won four of the first five races at the Meadowlands Thursday night, including 36-1 longshot Jiffy Girl in the fifth, which helped lead to a Pick Six carryover of $18,058.60 for Friday.

Sears won the daily double with 5-1 Sea Man in the opener and 9-2 Big Switch in race two. He also added a win in the fourth race with Cari at 4-1.

In addition to the big upset score by Sears, Ron Pierce added a $26.60 winner Pamplona in the ninth race to ensure the Pick 6 carryover. There was only one winning favorite in the Pick 6 and only one winning ticket with five correct winners, which paid $1,566.80.

*The Pick 6 is a $1 dollar minimum bet covering races four through nine every racing night at the Meadowlands.*

Friday's Pick 6 at the Meadowlands features three $16,000 divisions of the Matt's Scooter Series for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings. In addition, the second race on the card is a rematch between Burning Point (see story below) and Miss Galvinator A in the second leg of the Overbid series.

Sears and Pierce are now tied atop the Meadowlands driver standings with 70 wins each.
