Up Front Jan-E-Lu, who had her winning streak snapped at nine last week, rebounded to capture the $50,000 White Ruffles Final Thursday night at the Meadowlands. The four-year-old daughter of Dragon Again claimed the lead just past the half and powered to a three and a half-length victory in 1:53.3, a lifetime best. Perfect Sign was second best, with Western Miracle third.

"I was just kind of trying to work my way to the front, pick up some cover on the backside," said Brian Sears, who scored his first White Ruffles victory. "The half wasn't that bad, 57.3, and she was pretty strong from there.

"She's got a lot of ability," Sears added. "She raced real well. She got a lot of talent and gets over the ground good."

Trained by Nat Varty, Up Front Jan-E-Lu races for C. Ed Mullinax of Amherst, Ohio. She has now banked $70,970 with 13 wins, four seconds and one third from 22 career starts.

Euro Hanover needed nearly all of his big lead to capture the $70,000 Super Bowl Final Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. He trotted the mile in 1:54.3, a personal best and stakes record, eclipsing the mark of 1:56 set by Rumsfeld in 2005.

Euro Hanover, sent off as the 9-5 favorite, had a seven-length lead at the top of the stretch and won by length and a quarter over Anotherbogey B. Next Superstar was third.

A four-year-old gelded son of SJ's Photo, Euro Hanover picked up his second straight victory and now has two wins and a second in three starts this year. He has a career total of 11 wins, 12 seconds and three thirds from 34 starts.

Hall of Famer Cat Manzi, who won the 2006 Super Bowl Final with Bancroft Hall, was back in the winner's circle with Euro Hanover.

"He's a bit of a handful," Manzi said. "We've been babying him along, trying to work out his best race. Bruce [trainer Saunders] has done a great job with him. He went through a bad spell a couple of weeks ago. He straightened it out. Tonight the horse just dictated how I drove him. He was really on his game."

Euro Hanover, a $16,500 Adios Yearling Sale purchase, has now banked $82,506 for owners Todd Schadel of Gratz, Pennsylvania and Charles Vincent of Oakland, New Jersey.
