News From The Big M on Saturday, February 18, 2005 Live Out Loud made it back-to-back victories in the Aquarius Series when he captured the $35,000 second leg for four-year-old pacers on Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Driven and trained by Patrick Lachance, Live Out Loud took advantage of a second-over trip behind Skydancer Hanover and held off the tenacious Brandon’s Cowboy along the inside to win the evening’s third race by a neck in 1:51.2. The 3-1 favorite, Skydancer Hanover held on for third. Live Out Loud improved his career record to 16 wins in 43 starts and $279,439 in earnings. The son of Art’s Conquest is owned by M&M Harness Racing of Suffern, New York and David McCaffrey of Burr Ridge, Illinois. The $78,250 Aquarius Final will be contested next Saturday night. The Aquarius is one of six stakes finals, worth a combined $492,350, to be raced at the Meadowlands next week.
News From The Big M on Friday, February 17, 2005 2004 Older Pacing Mare of the Year Loyal Opposition and Artbitration each scored victories in their $35,000 divisions of the Cape and Cutter Series on Friday night at the Meadowlands.
Loyal Opposition, with George Brennan in the sulky, took control of the lead around the backside and held off a late charge from Queen Otra to win by a half-length in 1:53.1. Ascending finished a half-length back in third. Trained by Ervin Miller, Loyal Opposition posted her second win of the year in three starts and increased her lifetime earning to $1,883,653 for owner Daniel Waxman of Ancaster, Ontario.
In the fifth race, second division, Arbitration won the photo finish by a nose over Burning Point in 1:53.3. It was a length back to She’s My Belle in third. Driven by Patrick Berry, Artbitration posted her second straight victory in this series for trainer/owner Norm Parker of Houston, Pennsylvania and Thomas Klosky Jr., of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The Cape and Cutter Series concludes with a $91,600 final on Friday, February 25.
In Exit 16W action, Master This capitalized off a pocket trip to win the fourth race, the first of two $20,000 divisions, by two lengths over Lil Ang Fra in 1:51.3. Dave Aint Here finished two and a half lengths back in third. In the seventh race, second division, Fran Cam skimmed the pylons to snag the lead in the final strides and win by a neck in 1:52.1. Silver Flash finished second and it was two lengths to his entry mate Shu Hanover in third. The $71,000 Exit 16W final will be contested on Saturday, February 26.
News at The Big M from Thursday, February 17, 2005... Gryffindor commanded the lead at the half and drew off to a length and a half tally over Mega Hall in the second of four $12,500 Junior Trendsetter divisions on Thursday night at the Meadowlands. Western Sequel saved ground along the inside and finished third. Driven by Eric Ledford, Gryffindor set a mark of 1:53 in the evening's fifth race. Noel Daley trains the three-year-old son of Dragon Again, whose name comes from the pages of J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter books. It was the second victory in 10 career starts for Sterlingbrook Farms' Gryffindor. The Junior Trendsetter Series for three-year-old pacers concludes with a $95,000 Final on February 26.
From Wednesday, February 16, 2005... Mary Sue Too and Vegas Style were repeat winners in the second round of the Tender Loving Care Series for three-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. Mary Sue Too wrestled with driver Ron Pierce off the gate and settled briefly in the middle of the pack before brushing to the lead at the half. Sent off as the 1-5 favorite, Mary Sue Too held off late bids by Highland Dextar and Alexa Hall to win her $12,500 division, the evening’s second, race by a length and a quarter victory in 1:58.1. Mary Sue Too now has three wins in four career starts for trainer Noel Daley and the partnership of D’Elegance Stable, TLP Stable and Adam Victor & Son Stable.
Vegas Style extended her winning streak to four in the $12,500 third race Tender Loving Care division. Driven by David Miller, Vegas Style held off Linda’s Rose and Dusty Lane Susan for a 1:56 victory. Vegas Style is trained by Jeff Stafford for White Birch Farm of Allentown, New Jersey.
