Big M Investigates Trifecta Payout
December 14, 2006
In response to several complaints, the Meadowlands has reviewed the payout for the fifth race trifecta on December 13, 2006.
Upon further investigation it was revealed that the largest wagers and winning amounts were from the Television Games Network (TVG) hub in Oregon. It was traced to one bettor who cashed $106 of the $169 in total winning wagers on the trifecta pool.
The Meadowlands was provided full cooperation by TVG in investigating the wagers and the player involved. The pattern of wagers and types were not out of the ordinary for this player, who is a resident of the state of Maryland.
"We understand the concern and appearance when such a situation like this occurs and we have investigated the situation,” said Meadowlands Vice President for Racing Operations Chris McErlean. “Beyond a large bettor using a normal pattern of trifecta boxes in winning this wager, we have found nothing else that have led us to believe there are any other issues with this race.”
