New Jersey Tracks Awarded 2007 Dates

The Meadowlands and Monmouth Park, both of which are operated by the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, were awarded a combined 280 racing dates in 2007. Approval for the dates was granted by the New Jersey Racing Commission at its meeting on Wednesday, November 15.
The Meadowlands will offer 160 standardbred racing dates and 41 thoroughbred programs while Monmouth Park, which will host the 2007 Breeders’ Cup, will operate for 79 dates.
Harness racing will take center stage at the Meadowlands from January 5 through August 4 [137 dates] and November 16 through December 29 [23 dates]. The harness racing schedule will run on Wednesdays through Saturdays in January, June, July and August and Wednesdays through Sundays in February, March, April and May. Exceptions will be a dark day on April 8 and live racing on Memorial Day, May 28. The holiday schedule in the fall will be on a Wednesday through Saturday basis.
The thoroughbred meet at the Meadowlands will span September 3 through November 10, Tuesdays through Saturdays with dark days on September 4, 5 and 6 and October 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. Depending on football scheduling at Giants Stadium, the Meadowlands will race either October 1 or 2.
Monmouth Park will present thoroughbred racing on May 12 through September 2, plus the Breeders’ Cup week, October 24, 25, 26 and 27. Thoroughbred racing’s championship day is on Saturday, October 27.
