Driver Bea Farber-Erdman
"Queen Bea" as she was known during her career retired in 1995 as the top money-winning female driver of all time. Born in Kindey, Michigan in November of 1940, Bea began piloting Standardbreds at age 29 after giving up her day job as a secretary when she married horseman Charlie Farber. From 1977 through July 27, 1995 Bea steered 1,801 winners to the tune of $9+million in purse earnings.
Now a resident of Naples, Florida, Bea's best year as a driver came in 1985, when she reined the winners of $681,692 to a 124-88-94 record from 694 starts. As a trainer she was responsible for 362 winners earning $2.1 million. Her green, gold and white colors were a familiar sight on the Chicago circuit, and in 1973 she became the first woman to win a track driving title when she captured that crown at Northville Downs in Michigan.
