Baillargeon Nails 6,000th Career Win

"Super Mario" Baillargeon captured his 6,000th career victory on Saturday night, December 2 at Flamboro Downs. The victory makes the 49-year-old Milton, ON, resident the 34th driver to accomplish the feat in North American history. Baillargeon scored the milestone in Flamboro Down's first race with the pacer Sweet Notion, from the stable of trainer Ben Wallace.

Wallace and Baillargeon have forged a successful and loyal partnership over the years. Baillargeon's richest career victory was celebrated with Totally Western, a Wallace-trainee, in the 2002 Breeders Crown final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Baillargeon, who started his driving career in 1977, made the full-time move to Ontario in 1999, and has driven the winners of over $61-million throughout his career. 

Christoforou Scores Career Victory 5,000
Driver Chris Christoforou, 35, won the 5,000th race of his career Friday at Woodbine. Christoforou is a three-time O'Brien winner and has won many major stakes since he began driving in 1990, including the Breeders Crown and Little Brown Jug. His 5,000th win came when he was guiding Kristens Joy for trainer Joe Stutzman to a 1:55.1 victory. Christoforou has piloted the winners of more than $77-million in his career.
