Stake Action at Balmoral Saturday

Six stakes were contested Saturday night at Balmoral Park, with Bobs Minute Maid taking the $25,000 Loyal Opposition Aged Pace in 1:50.4. Driven and trained by Mike Oosting, the 8-year-old mare notched her eighth win of the season for owner Paul HBertucci of Burbank Illinois.
The $49,900 Violet Stake Final for three-year-old trotting fillies--race four--saw Spread The Chips win for trainer Brandon Simpson.
Ten ICF sophomore pacing fillies squared off in the $50,700 Violet Stake Final, which saw Renovation best Westside Gritty and Kennans Kelli in 1:53.1.
Ten state-bred trotting colts met up in the $49,400 Cardinal Stake Final, with trainer Roger Welch training the first, second and third place horses. Maxter took the mile in 1:55.2, with stablemates Spirit Lifter and Mood Man notching place and show honors.
Race seven--the $50,500 Cardinal Stake Final, saw Mucho Sleazy easily best her nine rivals in 1:51.
The $40,000 Big Tom Stake--race seven--saw Shirley LeVin’s My Boy David cruize to a 1:49.3 clocking en route to his fourth win of 2008.
