Easton Alliance N Wins BC Open Mare Prep The only horse to supplement to this year's Breeders Crown open events certainly made it worth her while, as Easton Alliance N and driver John Campbell romped to a 1:50.4 victory in the Open Mare Breeders Crown Prep. Trained by Ross Crogan for owner Katherine Bardis of Sacramento, California, the five-year-old daughter of Breeders Crown winner Village Jasper picked up her sixth win of the year in 12 tries. Lis Mara Wins Second $45,000 BC Pace Elim Lis Mara roared to a near wire-to-wire victory in the second of two $45,000 Breeders Crown eliminations of the Open Pace, stopping the clock in 1:48.1 with driver Brian Sears in the sulky for trainer Erv Miller. It was the sixth win of the year for the son of Cambest--Lisheen (by Abercrombie). The four-year-old bay horse now has three wins in a row, including the Canadian Pacing Derby.
"I left really hard with this horse and he really didn't like me taking ahold of him later in the race, but he eventually settled down and really raced well. Holburn Hanover Smokes in $45,000 BC Pace Elim Holburn Hanover paced a career best of 1:48 in the first of two $45,000 Breeders Crown Pace eliminations at The Meadowlands Saturday night. The five-year-old son of Cam's Card Shark, who is trained by Brett Robinson, is a $1.3 million winner to date.
"The track was better for this race," winning driver George Brennan said. "There's a lot of classy horses in this race and we had some anxious moments, but he held on well."
Positions changed throughout the mile which saw torrid fractions of :26.1, :52.4, and 1:20.1. Corleone Kosmos Wins Breeders Crown Trot Prep Corleone Kosmos and driver John Campbell kicked in a solid late stretch move to win the $50,000 Breeders Crown Open Trot Prep at The Meadowlands Saturday night in a world record time of 1:51.3 on a track rated sloppy. He shattered the previous record 1:52.1 set by Inflamatory in 2005. The late blooming son of SJ's Photo won his sixth of nine starts this year for trainer Ross Crogan. Corleone Kosmos is a four-year-old, lightly-raced trotter wtih just $81,543 in earnings coming into this Breeders Crown prep.
