THE BREEDERS CROWN Saturday October 23, 2004

Analysis/Selections by: Grey Stable Tony

1 PREFERRED PACE

(9) QUARTER CARAT steps after first over win, we were witnesses to his life mark of 1:48.4 on Breeders Crown night at the BigM, he can leave with the best of them and look for an aggressive drive by Sears … (5) KENTUCKY BRIAR drops from the Open and gets Luc who drove him to his last victory … (8) RAIR EARTH the great Free for All’er returns after a couple of tighteners, but usually needs a couple when on the shelf this long.

2 BREEDERS CROWN 2YO FILLY TROT

(2) FLIRTIN MISS the other Takter trainee draws much better and gets Campbell and possesses key early foot … (9) SOLVEIG the Yankee Glide filly is 5 for 5 since wearing the hopples and has been winning easily but post #9 may be her undoing … (3) HONOUR WAY the Ontario bred faded after a fast half at Mohawk, can stay close

3
BREEDERS CROWN 3YO FILLY PACE

(1) RAINBOW BLUE only loss coming on a break in the Mistletoe Shalee on Hambletonian day, gets to bask in the glory she deserves and could be the beginning of a big night for Ron Pierce … (7) INVITRO the ONSS champ and race supplement is no slouch herself with 11 wins on the season but with inside speed may have to be content to close (6) L DEES VAL supplement has been on a tear the last half of the season but was no match for Rainbow in the Fan Hanover on 8/28 … (5) GLOWING REPORT the Jugette winner raced huge at the Red Mile, will look for a cover trip

4
BREEDERS CROWN 2YO FILLY PACE

(4) FAST RUFFLES peaking at the right time with sharp 27.0 last quarter in fast last half plus potent Pierce/Pelling combination, handed Cabrini Hanover her only loss on 10/7 at the Red Mile … (9) ARTS BID a watch list horse for being parked in fastest opening quarter of the night last week and setting fast opening half in game effort (2) CABRINI HANOVER the first pacer in the Jimmy Takter barn has had a banner season and set the world record for freshman fillies in the Shes A Great Lady final at Woodbine on 9/4 in 1:51, gets post position advantage over her main rivals but may be overbet while trying to brush and bottom out the field like last week … (10) RESTIVE HANOVER beaten favorite flew home in fast last half in 54.3, last quarter in 27.0, may have a long way to come tonight

5
BREEDERS CROWN 3YO COLT TROT

(6) AL DENTE HANOVER good early foot, gets re-united with Luc in a wide open race … (8) IN CONCHNITO the Ontario bred prepped well with huge effort at Georgian Downs, should be closing fast … (1) ROCKY BALBOA was primed for big effort in the Kentucky Futurity by Pelling and has been on the improve but still is only 1 for 16 in the win column this year … (2) COVENTRY should be close throughout and should be heard from if he can put his closing kick to good work … (11) CANTAB HALL collapse on the front end in the Futurity and subsequent scratch from the final raises a lot of questions, should get off well and may just try this one off the pace as in the Hambletonian …

6
BREEDERS CROWN 2YO COLT TROT

(8) KEN WARKENTIN Mohawk record holder came home in 56.4 in the Bluegrass and is the deserving favorite but will be overbet and not particularly fond of betting short priced 2 year old trotters … (6) MUSCLESEXTRODINAIR Pelling trainee has been very consistent but ventures from the Red Mile for the first time for a race … (2) SOUTHFORK the other Pelling trainee also prepped exclusively at the Red Mile but came home in 27.3 on off track in fast last quarter … (3) VICTORY PHOTO the little guy simply flew home at huge odds to break his maiden with Gingras, could be set up for another big stretch run but nowhere near the same odds …

7
BREEDERS CROWN 3YO FILLY TROT

(4) HOUSETHATRUTHBUILT on top of her game with 6 in-a-row for the masterful Smedshammer, elim was ez win with 28.1 final quarter … (3) PEACEFUL WAY closed in brisk 27.3 in tune up with only loss since Hambo Oaks to Housethatruthbuilt on 9/9 … (6) BRAMASOLE the Buckette winner 7 for 7 in-the-money and may choose the race this one off the pace … (2) MYSITCAL SUNSHINE a nice trotter in her own right, possesses key early speed and can upset with the trip

8
BREEDERS CROWN 2YO COLT PACE

(9) VILLAGE JOLT Woodrow Wilson champ came home in 54.1 on 10/8 after some time off, got an easy tune up last week and should offer value for part Jeff Snyder ownership who surprisingly is looking for his first Breeders Crown trophy … (2) SHANGHAI PHIL very sharp and 3 for 3 with Lachance and won his elimination easily … (3) ALLAMERICAN INCA improved greatly while at the Red Mile, impressive last week with big move past the half pacing his 3rd
quarter in 26.3, can flat out fly coming home but throws in an occasional step or two …

(10) ROCKNROLL HANOVER was content to sit behind Shanghai Phil in elimination, cant discount Pelling trainees in big races, early speed will help him get into position

9
BREEDERS CROWN 3YO COLT PACE

(2) GEARTOGEAR has been lethal on the big tracks, won easily last week coming home in 54.4, should be close throughout with his early foot … (3) QUICK PULSE MINDALE world record holder rebounded last week off the pace with big first over effort in fast last half and final quarter in 26.1, horse prefers not to race on the lead so there is a risk of getting buried on the rail or going first over … (9) HOLBORN HANOVER a watch list horse for sharp 26.2 close in fast last half, post hurts his win chances unless speed duel develops up front …

(10) WESTERN TERROR pretty much was forced to go to the front last week which is not his game, gave it up to Quick Pulse Mindale after slow half, going to have to leave for position though

10
GOLD CUP INVITATIONAL

(9) CASIMIR CAMOTION Canadian Pacing Derby winner is one of our favorites has emerged as arguably the top open pacer in training, was content to close last week and with all the early speed inside, will probably have to work out a closing trip again in what should be a hotly contested pace … (9) ROYAL MATTJESTY another in here with blistering early foot should be chose to leave … (2) BOULDER CREEK surprisingly Saftic named to drive, tired after huge 2nd quarter at the Red Mile, wont have to work to hard for early position but may be shuffled early with all the outside speed … (8) LIFE SOURCE will be tough if he can somehow get the pocket

11
3 YR OLD OPEN

(8) COLDHEARTEDREVENGE improving horse since the addition of lasix, shocked a good field of Open 3 YO’s on 10/9 … (3) MAGICAL GG has been off since 8/29 but was competitive with Quick Pulse Mindale at Hazel Park and raced huge at Flamboro … (5) ARMBRO BALMORAL knocking heads with the top 3YO’s, took his 1:49.2 mark here and put up some big fractions against Geartogear on 10/9
