Artsplace Hospitalized at New Bolton

October 3, 2006

One of harness racing's top pacing sires, Artsplace, has foundered and his situation appears dire as he receives treatment at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. The 18-year-old son of Abercrombie has stood stud at Southwind Farm in New Jersey since retiring from the track in 1992. Brittany Farms manager Art Zubrod reports that Artsplace has been suffering from a serious case of laminitis for quite some time.

Artsplace has sired 14 million-dollar winners including $2.7 million earner Art Major. His sire, Abercrombie, succumbed to laminitis at the age of 25. Owned by a syndicate, he is managed by Brittany Farms Stallion Management.
