Peaceful Way wins Armbro Flight at Mohawk

July 1, 2006

Peaceful Way turned in a dominating 1:54 victory in the $347,250 Armbro Flight at Mohawk Saturday night, winning by six lengths easily for driver Trevor Ritchie. The five-year-old daughter of Angus Hall took the lead at the :55.4 half and never looked back. The victory was the 30th lifetime score for the career winner of $2,625,935.

"She always gives you a lot of confidence as long as she stays at it," said driver Trevor Ritchie. "I moved her early because the track came up muddy – she doesn't like dirt hitting her in the face. I wasn't concerned that the track was a tiring one, I just didn't want dirt hitting her in the face. Everytime I drive her she races like a great mare."

"I wasn't concerned with her first start of the season," said trainer Dave Tingley, who was referring to her sixth place finish on June 19 at Mohawk. "It was a slight mechanical error that night. The Breeders Crown is next month – we have to decide if we're going to tackle the boys after that. She's also got the American National and then she's back here in September."
