Peaceful Way Wins American National Peaceful Way won the $250,000 American National for aged trotters easily in front-end fashion for driver Trevor Ritchie in 1:53.3. The four-year-old Angus Hall mare easily bested the boys for trainer David Tingley as the rain began once again at Balmoral. Mohammed Mali gave a game effort for second, while Hellava Hush raced parked first over for most of the mile and was equally as worthy in defeat.
"I love to come to Balmoral Park for these American Nationals," driver Trevor Ritchie noted. "Dave’s (trainer Tingley) has done a great job of keeping this mare fresh all season long and she’s very sharp right now. She was very strong in here and just trotted her heart out all the way to the wire."
"She’s at the top of the best trotters that I’ve ever driven," Ritchie added. "It’s an honor to sit behind a mare like her."
Peaceful Way pushed her seasonal earnings to $660,804 with the victory, and her career earnings are now just a few thousand dollars shy of two million.

Self Professed Wins Hanover at Balmoral Self Professed took the lead at the :56 half and never looked back, drawing off in the stretch to win the $72,500 Hanover Stake in 1:55.3 easily for driver Pat Berry. The sophomore son of Self Possessed grabbed his fourth win of the season for trainer Don Swick.
"My plan was to leave and get a trip but where I landed I then had to go first over. It wasn’t a bad thing, however, as it worked out. I didn’t want to take the lead right off the bat because the horse was coming off a layoff. Once he made the lead—pretty easily by the way—I was nothing more than a passenger. He went by the leader like he was standing still," driver Pat Berry noted in the drenched Balmoral winner’s circle.
