American National Elims Contested at Balmoral

Victor's Pursuit captured the first of two $28,000 American National splits for three-year-old trotters in 1:56.4 with Dave Magee at the lines. Whotookwhat (Brent Holland) was second, Reinvent (Tim Tetrick) was third, with Christina M (Tony Morgan) fourth and Magenta Hall (Mike OOsting) fifth. These trotters all earned a starting berth in the $250,000 American National Three-Year-old Filly Trot Final on Saturday, November 5. Roger Welch trains the winner for Robert Rietveld and Paul Gibson of Illinois.

In the second $28,000 American National split Welch's other trainee, Arcola scored in 1:56.3 for driver Tim Tetrick. The sophomore trotting lass by Valley Victor scored ahead of Ladymatic (Tony Morgan), with Just Like Dream (Eric Ledford) third, Coulantine (Charlie Norris) fourth and Third Reef (Mike Oosting) fifth.

A pair of $27,000 American National elims were contested for four-year-old and older pacers, with the first five from each heat returning for the $250,000 Final on Saturday, November 5. In the first division Town Champion scored in 1:49.3 for driver Eric Ledford and owner James Jesk of Illinois. Pokagon (Tim Tetrick) was second, with He Wants It All (Dave Magee) third, Timesareachanging (Andy Miller)O fourth and Fox Maneuver (Sam Widger) fifth.

The second heat elimination of American National aged pacers saw Boulder Creek and driver Dale Hiteman stop the clock inh 1:51.1 for trainer Mark Silva and owners Clifford Siegel, Less Wasserman and John Fodera of New York. Articular (Tim Tetrick) was second with Escape The Wind (Roger Mayotte) third and Artiology (Dave Magee) fourth, with Sagebrush (Tony Morgan) nailing down fifth-place honors.
